Children's Camp

On Thursday, July 24th through Friday, July 25, we held children's camp at Camp Clark Williamson. We started the day off by loading up at 8:30 am and heading out. On the way we stopped at the pilot and got an ICEEE (talk about some major brain freezes). When we got there everybody was racing to claim bunks and rooms. Everyone took a short walk and then went and played on the slide while some of us made lunch. After everyone was full of lunch we continued our day by having a bible study, a hike, and swimming. Some couldn't stand being in the water so long and had to get out and get back in later. (The water was VERY chilly). That night we had spaghetti, salad, bread, and afterwards, smores. We watched a ten commandments movie and then went to sleep, however, some fell asleep before the movie was over. The next morning we ate waffles and slowly got ready for the last day of camp. We had a bible study, lunch (leftovers), and went swimming. This time the water felt a lot better when we went swimming. The kids made a craft; a ten commandment booklet, which was very cool. We also had a puppet show that the kids loved. So, in the end everyone enjoyed children's camp and learned a lot.

Stew Sale

On Saturday, July 12, 2008, we had the annual stew sale (which is a youth fundraiser) at church. There were two youth there, Colton and me. I got to help cut onions and wound up having to make a "wipe the tears napkin" because the onions had me tearing up. After the onions I helped peel potatoes and I'll admit that on my first potato it took me about 5 minutes to get it peeled. After there we3re no more veggies to be cut up or poured into the stew, I occasionally stirred. I'll tell you right now that I have a great respect for the men who stirred because that is one hot job!!! But in the end I had a great time.

Ronald McDonald House

On July 3, 2008, the youth went to the Ronald McDonald House for a mission project. We put on a little carnival for the kids. Jason and Shelby did face painting and airbrush tattoes. Hunter watched over the obstacle course. Colton and I passed out snow cones. Nathan and Scott watched over everyone and the basketball game. I loved seeing all the kids having fun and smiling. I loved it when the youth took a trip to six flags but I lovced it even more going on this mission trip and it was very rewarding. I would love to do something like this again.

VBS 2008-Outrigger Island

From June 9-June 13, we had VBS at church. The past 2 years I have helped with preschool, but this year I helped with music. I can honestly say that I had a bunch of fun taking part in teaching the kids the dances for all the songs. I loved watching some of them get a little confused and lost when learning a new song. (Although, I have to admit that when I was learning I also got a little confused.) One decision was made by Jessica Alexander and I am very happy for her.

Jackson Jam

On Saturday, June 7th, we went to the Jackson Jam.It was a concert at the Oman Arena with several christian artists such as; He Rose (a local band), After Edmund, PJ Summers, Building 429, 33 Miles, Britt Nicole, Jars Of Clay, Pure NRG, and Kutless. The concert started somewhere around 12 noon and was still going when we left around midnight. Mrs. Cathy drove the van for all of us who went and enjoyed it as much as we did. Cds, shirts, posters, autographs, and more were available from all the bands. My favorite's were Kutless, Britt Nicole, After Edmund, and He Rose. I also really enjoyed Pure NRG, as did many others. They amazed everyone with their dances. To see a music video by them click here.
